    About Viking

The Viking Cycle Company, an iconic English bicycle manufacturer, began as a bicycle repair shop in 1908 in Wolverhampton, founded by Alfred Victor Davies. The company transitioned to manufacturing frames around 1935 and was registered as Viking Cycles Limited in 1939 by Davies' son, Reg. During WWII, the company produced munitions but post-war, it became Wolverhampton's largest bicycle manufacturer, producing over 20,000 cycles annually by 1963 and establishing a notable racing team in 1948.

In the mid-1960s, as club cycling declined, Viking innovated with a child's bicycle that grew with the child, becoming a significant part of their business. Despite their innovations, the company closed in 1967 and was reestablished in Derry, Northern Ireland, as Viking Cycles. After financial troubles, the brand changed hands several times, being bought by Avocet Sports in 2001 and later by Indian company Hero Cycles in 2015. Today, Viking Cycles operates under Hero's Insync Bikes division, continuing its legacy of producing quality bicycles.
